A micro-temperature monitoring system in Matam? : gaining a better understanding of the heat felt in homes using thermal sensors
Through these images, follow the essential role played by thermal sensors deployed in the field. They enable real-time monitoring of temperature variations based on habitat characteristics. Providing us with an intimate view of the daily thermal environment of inhabitants, this data from the monitoring system complements that obtained using the thermal drone.
Extreme heat & maternal and child health – a feedback on our multidisciplinary workshop
in Matam.
Discover the summary of our workshop, held in Matam from 16 to 18 June. Researchers, partners, local authorities and health professionals came together to discuss the impacts of extreme temperatures on maternal and child health, as well as local adaptation strategies. This cross-border issue provided an opportunity to present the findings of researchers from Senegal, Bangladesh and teams from London who have worked on the continent (Burkina Faso, Kenya, South Africa). More than just a scientific meeting, this event helped to strengthen synergies between the worlds of research and decision-making.

Mapping habitat types in the Matam region using thermal drone overflights
This video presents the mapping mission carried out in Matam using thermal drones. By observing how different types of housing accumulates or dissipates heat, we seek to better understand inequalities in heat exposure in order to identify the most vulnerable areas.
